US racing tips: Tom Collins hopes for another good night of winners at Tampa

Despite the British fare returning at Newcastle, it is wise to keep following the action stateside as there are plenty more winners to find, especially once Belmont Park returns on Wednesday.

The sole US meet on offer on Monday is at Tampa Bay Downs, where the best punting opportunities look to be in the second half of the card.

Punters will look towards the prolific Word Of Truth as the banker of the night in the $10,000 claimer (7.50), given he has form figures of 116112112 on his last nine outings.

As good as that looks, the Dale Bennett-trained six-year-old hasn't been seen since September last year, so has a near nine-month absence to overcome, and will make his debut at the track having recorded the vast majority of his successes at Arlington.

He will likely go off favourite and with a career strike-rate of more than 50 per cent he has to be feared, but he might meet his match in C'Era Una Volta.

This five-year-old has got a new lease of life since being moved to Tampa from Gulfstream and rewarded punters with an impressive all-the-way success here on his penultimate outing, beating a subsequent winner by a cosy two lengths.

He found one too good on his sole subsequent outing but put up a bold show from the front once again and the third has bolted up since.

This looks a winnable contest and although he may have some pace pressure with Animal Trick in the field, C'Era Una Volta is taken to come out on top.

The best horses on the card run in the closing $20,000 maiden special weight (9.25) contest and whenever you see Chad Brown's name next to a runner here you have to take note.

He has two in the field but the best of them is likely to be Economic Policy, who is the mount of leading rider Antonio Gallardo and has the benefit of a run.

The well-bred son of Giant's Causeway looked green on his debut here in January but hit the line well over a slightly shorter trip than this 1m½f contest and will have improved plenty since.

His recent works have been decent, he has drawn well in gate two and the horse who beat him on debut is clearly highly regarded as he was pitched into Listed company on his next outing.
