US racing tips: Tom Collins has three bets at Belmont as New York action returns

H Man
7.55 Belmont Park
1pt each-way

Madita
8.59 Belmont Park
1pt win

Rushing Fall
10.36 Belmont Park
3pts win

New York racing returns at Belmont Park. I can't tell you how exciting that sounds.

The feature on the first night is the Grade 3 Beaugay Stakes (10.36), a race that has been won three times in the last six years by Chad Brown, and the leading trainer looks to have clear claims of adding another victory to that tally.

He runs four-time Grade 1 winner Rushing Fall, who will jump from the inside gate on her return to the track. Now a five-year-old, the stablestar will look to get back to winning form after suffering surprise defeats on her final two starts last year.

Before she lined up in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga in July, Rushing Fall boasted a career record of eight wins and a second from nine starts but found the immensely talented Sistercharlie too good on that occasion before finishing fourth in the First Lady Stakes at Keeneland.

She has had eight months off since but has an exceptional record when fresh and her recent works at this track have been good. This is an above-average edition of the race with Mark Casse's Got Stormy also in the line-up, but I can't see Rushing Fall losing.

Brown's Passive Investing is the morning line favourite for a competitive $66,000 allowance (8.59) contest earlier on the card, but she hung badly left last year and has to be taken on.

The most likely winner is German import Madita, who will make just her third start Stateside for trainer Arnaud Delacour.

Placed in a couple of Group 3s before her switch, Madita made an instant impression when a staying-on third over a mile at Saratoga last summer before pulling far too hard on her only other outing.

She has had plenty of time to acclimatise now and hopefully she can get her campaign off to a good start. She has drawn well in gate three, will be suited by the fast early gallop and has the talented Irad Ortiz in the saddle.

The $27,000 claimer (7.55), which will be run over 6½f, looks a good punting opportunity with the morning line favourite (Business Cycle) around the 4-1 mark. Consequently, there is plenty of value to be found.

Too Fast To Pass has caught the eye in his recent works but he's drawn wide and held on form by eight-year-old H Man, who has been allocated stall one and should get the dream run through in behind the speed.

This 14-time winner was not in the best form when last seen at Aqueduct in February, but he much prefers the dirt track here at Belmont and has warmed up for this with a fair few four-furlong breezes.
