Tom Collins analyses the credentials of five favourites at Gulfstream Park

Royal Approval
6.15 Gulfstream Park
SP forecast 7-5

Purchased for $95,000 last year, Royal Approval is by Breeders' Cup Classic winner Tiznow and should therefore improve when stepped up in trip. Hails from the Wesley Ward barn, so will take plenty of money on debut, and recent work at Palm Meadows Training Centre was rapid. Drawn wider than ideal in gate eight and turf not sure to suit.

Conclusion Take her on with stablemate Campanelle, who has a turf pedigree and better draw.

Examiner
6.45 Gulfstream Park
SP forecast 2-1

Two-time winner from 11 starts, Examiner ships in from Fair Grounds where he was last seen finishing fourth of five over 6f in January. Steps up to a mile here, which is a big question mark, and makes his first start for four months. Recent work suggests he is on top form.

Conclusion Will try to make all but question marks about his stamina. Leave the race alone.

Tapizar King
7.46 Gulfstream Park
SP forecast 2-1

Drawn wider than ideal in gate ten but looked a young sprinter to keep onside when he was beaten just a nose on debut at Gulfstream Park West in October. He showed serious speed over 6f that day but his stamina ebbed away just before the wire and he was beaten just a nose. Has been working well at that venue.

Conclusion Tough to beat now dropped in trip.

Got It Made
8.16 Gulfstream Park
SP forecast 5-2

Three-year-old filly who represents leading trainer Chad Brown and top owner Peter Brant. Cost six figures and boasts a decent worktab, but makes her debut here against rivals with plenty of experience. Inside draw isn't good for a first-time starter.

Conclusion Take her on.

Whiskey Sunrise
10.24 Gulfstream Park
SP forecast 6-5

Talented sort who made a nice debut when second at Gulfstream in April last year before having a year off the track. Returned with an impressive win over this course and distance last month before finding one too good when upped in grade last time. That looked a hot race and he finished miles clear of the third.

Conclusion Should win this without much trouble.
