Paul Kealy provides his Placepot perm from Newcastle

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

I'm sure you'll forgive me for focusing on Newcastle for the Placepot perm rather than Newmarket, where there isn't a single line of form to go on over the six races.

In the opener (1.00) almost made the main tipping portfolio as she shaped really nicely in two starts over the straight 7f here as a juvenile.

She did not make the anticipated progress for the step up to a mile on her final start, but that was in a slowly run race around a bend at Lingfield and she was outpaced before staying on late.

She'll be much better suited to the return to Newcastle and doesn't look badly treated going into her first handicap.

There's not much form to go on in the next (1.35), but we're probably just as well banking on Richard Fahey's , who showed bags of promise when fourth in a field containing plenty of runners from the big yards at York on his sole outing at two.

The well beaten sixth has run well in Listed company at Meydan since, while the distant sixth bolted up in a handicap on Tuesday, so there's some substance to the form and he should make the most of the 7lb he gets from the only winner in the field.

There's very little form to go on in leg three (2.10) and William Haggas's Al Salt, the original short-priced favourite, hardly sets a good standard with an RPR of 62.

A better candidate may be the Charlie Hills-trained , who is out of a half-sister to Kingman and represents a yard with a 25 per cent strike-rate at the track.

(2.45) was the first winner after the resumption of racing and bids for a quick double in leg four. He will find it harder under a 4lb penalty but was competitive and in form off similar marks early last season and is hard to leave out.

, who won here last year off a long break, is another worth considering.

The fifth leg (3.20) is tricky but is fairly treated on last year's form and returns gelded after a wind op, while there is more to come this term from .

and the strong-finishing can hopefully close it out in the final leg (3.55)
