Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Friday tips for Newmarket, Haydock, Listowel, Newcastle, Worcester and York

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Newmarket

4.40: Fireworks

The William Haggas-trained Fireworks could be on a favourable mark for his handicap debut judged on his second in a hot novice here in May, and he's preferred to fellow three-year-old Alhezabr who is also open to improvement now starting out in handicaps. Mashhoor retains potential, while Rebel Territory's career has been heading in the right direction
Ben Hutton

Haydock

2.35: Kingboard Star

Decent prize money up for grabs and none of the nine runners can be ruled out with any confidence. Reversion, who appreciated the drop to 5f last time, may have got in lightly on his handicap debut but there are others in this who might be even better treated and Kingboard Star may prove the best option. Soft ground and a troubled passage have compromised his efforts in Group/Listed races on his last two starts and he could have much more to offer now handicapping. Old rivals Russellinthebushes and Instinctive Move are others who are high on the list, along with handicap debutante Bellarena Lady who is nominated as the biggest threat to the selection.
Keith McHugh

Listowel

1.40: Lucky Tenner

It is tempting to pick San Salvador on hurdling debut as the form of his Killarney bumper win has been so well franked since. However, Lucky Tenner has the form over hurdles in the book to win this, albeit he was below par when last seen, so can make his experience tell. Gaspard Du Seuil, Sin A Bhfuil, Babylon Beach and State Of Fame are capable of going well.
Tyrone Molloy

Newcastle

4.50: Colonial Love

Last year's winner Golden Hind should go well again despite having a penalty to shoulder for a recent Thirsk success. Hellenista is on the up and could go well but Colonial Love looked nicely ahead of her mark when scoring at Lingfield on her handicap debut and she can defy a 5lb rise in the weights.
Paul Smith

Worcester

4.02: Shetland Bus

Calvinist was over 5l ahead of Shetland Bus when completing a double at Uttoxeter this month but he seemed to gain a tactical advantage when kicking for home after the third-last flight there and Justin Landy's 8yo can gain revenge on 6lb better terms here. Handicap hurdle debutant October Storm has taken pretty well to hurdling this summer and can also feature.
Chris Wilson

York

5.25: Topanticipation

Mount Marcy is sure to be in demand now he tackles a new trip for the Gosdens. However, ready preference is for Topanticipation, whose dam couldn't get enough of York (form figures of 213511221) so it was perhaps no coincidence that this 4yo should run her best race last time out when having her first run here and also attempting this trip for the first time. Cozone shouldn't be far away but he's frustrating now.
