Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Selections from Ascot, Chelmsford, Hamilton, Navan, Ripon, Uttoxeter and Wexford

Wednesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Ascot

5.00: Matthew Flinders

It remains to be seen how the draw will pan out but Matthew Flinders (nap) gets the verdict and Oisin Murphy has options from stall 15. The selection should settle better than last time and remains the type to win a race of this nature. Second choice is Magical Morning, who ties in with Matthew Flinders on Doncaster form last September and is open to further progress. Finest Sound is short in the betting for good reason and he has to be feared, while Astro King and Haqeeqy are other obvious players. Inevitably, several others also have possibilities in a very hot handicap.
Steve Boow

Chelmsford

8.23: Conscious

There are a few unexposed three-year-olds in the field with the pick of them probably Alhaajeb, who made it fifth-time lucky over course and distance last month. He is respected off 4lb higher with the prospect of further improvement to come, but it's hard to get away from Conscious (nap) who is able to race off a 2lb lower mark than when returning to winning form at Kempton seven days ago.

Hamilton

4.55: Out Of Breath

Grant Tuer has his string in good form and Out Of Breath (nap) looks to have been found a good opportunity to supplement his selling handicap win, over a trip we now know he stays. Le Magnifique is a tentative choice for best alternative.
Andrew Cooper

Navan

7.45: Storm Flight

The forecast quick ground should help Storm Flight (nap) who will appreciate a return to hurdles and he looked capable from this sort of mark towards the end of last year. Fleurys Fort has a good strike-rate for a horse in this sort of grade and he's of interest from below his last winning mark. It was an encouraging return for Time And Times before a late fall last time and he's another to consider.
Phill Anderson

Ripon

7.30: Excel Power

Mitrosonfire finished ahead of Excel Power (nap) at Pontefract last week but the selection failed to fire having got upset in the stalls and he can resume the progress that saw him reel off a hat-trick in the spring. Kraken Power is untested on the ground but also has claims if returning to his best.
Paul Smith

Uttoxeter

1.45: Pepper Street

I'm On Snap may well be a lot better than she showed when winning narrowly at Fontwell but preference is for Pepper Street (nap), who is on a fine run of form and should appreciate the step back up to this trip.
Jonathan Neesom

Wexford

2.25: Woodbrook Boy

If Klassy Kay can bounce back to form she should go close, while good cases can be made for the likes of Dawson's Cottage and the unexposed Queensteel. However, the well-treated Woodbrook Boy (nap) impressed at Listowel last week with the way he jumped and galloped, and he could be hard to peg back.
