Musselburgh Placepot picks: Tom Collins provides his perm at the Scottish track

There is no hiding the lack of quality at Musselburgh, but the track produced a huge Placepot payout on Monday and that's enough to get me interested. Hopefully a couple of earlier bankers get the perm off to a scorching start.

Group 2 Norfolk Stakes winner Perfect Power beat Firebomb by two and a quarter lengths prior to his Royal Ascot success. Although the winner was value for further, Firebomb's solid display makes him a reliable frame-filler in the opening 5f maiden (1.45).

The following fillies' maiden (2.20) revolves around Fire Eyes, who performed with promise when third on debut in a race that has worked out reasonably well. A repeat effort would be good enough.

De Mazzaro will be a short-priced favourite in the 1m4½f handicap (2.55), but I want to oppose him with Katsonis and Amourie, both of whom did not stay 1m6f when last seen and are better value plays.

Three-year-olds Gioia Cieca and Tadreeb may hold an advantage over their elders in the feature 0-95 handicap (3.30). The latter was especially impressive when last seen.

I'll take a chance on Tefnut's fitness in the penultimate leg (4.05). She showed enough over the winter to feature if ready to go. First-time visored Clay Regazzoni is a safe alternative.

The closing 5f handicap (4.35) is probably the toughest race on the card, but Good Luck Fox and Denzil's Laughing both ran well on their most recent starts here and get the vote.
