Hong Kong racing tips: Jim McGrath with three fancies on Sunday's Sha Tin card

Computer Patch
7.05 Sha Tin
2pts win

Righteous Doctrine
7.40 Sha Tin
2pts win

Winning Dreamer
9.50 Sha Tin
2pts win

Local stars Golden Sixty and Exultant top the bill on 'Trials Day' at Sha Tin on Sunday but neither will represent betting value as the build-up starts to the Hong Kong International Races meeting on December 13.

Numbers declared for the three 'dress rehearsals', over 6f, 1m and 1m2f, are modest by local standards [10, 7 and 9 runners respectively]. However, with Beauty Generation and new arrival Classique Legend sitting this one out, there is still plenty of strength in the top ranks.

The Francis Lui-trained Golden Sixty will be attempting his tenth consecutive win when tackling the Group 2 Jockey Club Mile (5.45), and while acknowledging that seven-runner races can often become tactical, his class should set him up for his big target next month.

His chief danger, Southern Legend, who carries a Group 1 penalty, meets him 8lb 'wrong' on official ratings, which when factored in, must also make it easier for the Australian-bred son of Medaglia D'Oro.

Exultant ran a cracking second to Furore in the 1m1f Sar Sar Ladies' Purse earlier in the month and now meets his stablemate 6lb better for that length-and-a-quarter defeat. The Tony Cruz-trained stayer will be sharper this time and the extra furlong is also in his favour in the Jockey Club Cup (8.10).

Cruz is also tipped to land the Jockey Club Sprint (7.05), over 6f, with rapidly improving Computer Patch, who has shown glimpses of star quality in his four local wins. Also, his narrow last start defeat can be excused.

Drawn wide last time, he was ridden aggressively to cross to the inside and was then caught on the line. It is the opposite this time, drawn No 1, and he should capitalise.

Hot King Prawn has the score on the board, having won this in 2018 and finishing second last year, but he is not quite as sharp as in previous seasons and may have to settle for a minor prize.

Two attractive bets to note on the card are Righteous Doctrine, who will relish the step up in trip in the Class 2 mile 1f handicap (7.40), and outstanding prospect Winning Dreamer in the finale, the Class 2 6f handicap sprint (9.50).
