Goodwood Placepot tips: Paul Kealy provides his perm on day one

The 18-runner opener (1.50) looks much the toughest race to get through when it comes to the Placepot on day one at Glorious Goodwood, and while I'm pretty happy with my main selections and , I'm going to add one more.

is one of the outsiders, but he was second to a well-handicapped horse on Oaks day in the mud at Epsom, and he clearly likes downhill tracks because he has won both there and at Goodwood.

In the Vintage (2.25) I have a feeling Austrian Theory, by mudlover Awtaad, is going to outrun his price, but he could do that and finish fourth, so I'm not sure he's a Placepot play, and Berkshire Shadowis clearly going to be hard to kick out of the first two.

The Lennox (3.00) features a decent-sized field, but has the form, draw and a 7lb weight-for-age allowance and is surely going to be a major player.

The Goodwood Cup (3.35) may not be as competitive as the numbers suggest and I think there's a better chance of getting Stradivarius out of the frame than , who will surely go close if only repeating his Northumberland Plate run.

will run a big race in leg five (4.10) but it might be worth adding , who is out of the handicap but has won off higher and has Saffie Osborne (form figures of 214 on three rides for the yard this summer) taking off 5lb.

The final leg is a juvenile maiden in which those who have run have not shown anything special. They could all improve, but I'll go with a couple of newcomers.

is related to plenty of winners, while is a brother to Rhythm Master, who has shown a good aptitude for soft ground and was fourth in the Jersey to Creative Force.
