Exeter Placepot picks: Richard Birch has two bankers to round off his perm

Bottomweight Moroder has plenty of things in his favour in Exeter’s opening 3m novice limited handicap chase (1.10), and must be included in Placepot perms.

Gustavian, who occupies a place at the other end of the handicap, would pose a big threat if eliminating the mistakes which have twice proved costly of late.

Miss Fairfax appeals in the mares’ maiden hurdle (1.40), with Irish point winner Eureka Creek recommended as back-up.

Serious Charges and Scarface, who drops in class after two runs in Ascot bumpers, stand out in the maiden hurdle (2.10).

Seventeen O Four has shown progressive form both on the Flat and over hurdles during the last few months, and an opening mark of 115 looks fair in the 2m2f handicap hurdle (2.40).

Strong at the finish of a Chepstow soft-ground novice last month, he emphatically rates one to keep firmly on side.

Not Sure, a disappointment on both starts this campaign, may be seen to better effect on Exeter’s less testing terrain.

Bank on Branson Missouri in the 2m handicap hurdle (3.10), and Tudors Treasure in the 2m3f handicap chase (3.40).

Both have strong claims in races that don’t appear as competitive as the field sizes imply.
