Doncaster Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway has a small perm over the jumps

There’s a good card at Doncaster and the Placepot perm there could yield a tidy dividend.

The opening 3m½f handicap hurdle (12.05) looks competitive at first glance, but Immortal Fame finished well over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last time and this trip should suit. He is a banker.

The second division (12.35) is a tough one. Canastero won well at Stratford in October and could bounce back from a below-par run at Ludlow last time. Lily Glitters is next best.

The 2m5f maiden hurdle (1.05) looks a match between City Chief and Champion Bumper seventh Wonderwall. Preference is for City Chief, who was a good second at Ascot last time.

Our Power is one of my best bets of the day and, provided at least eight runners go to post, I’ll be happy to make him a banker in the 2m4½f novice limited handicap chase (1.40).

I’m keen to take on likely market leader Russian Ruler in the 2m½f novice hurdle (2.15) and preference is for the classy Flat performer Raymond Tusk, who could improve.

Only seven are declared for the 3m2f novice handicap chase (2.50) and, with just two places on offer, it’s worth including both Muckamore and this season’s dual winner On Call.
