Ayr Placepot tips: Richard Birch with his advice for Scottish evening fixture

Jim Goldie looks set for a cracking night at Ayr and four of his runners – Oriental Lilly, Ayr Poet, Tanasoq and Tommy G – feature in my Placepot perm.

The in-form trainer is four-handed in leg one (5.15) but I’ll side with Tim Easterby’s Cedar Rapids, who made a promising first start at Carlisle, and David O’Meara’s Water Iris, who ran well at the track two starts ago.

Oriental Lilly is well handicapped on her best form and should make a bold bid in leg two (5.45). Explosive front-runner Jaariyah, likely to enjoy an uncontested lead, is the one to catch.

Ayr Poet seems sure to go close in leg three (6.15), while leg four (6.45) could develop into a duel between Modular Magic, who returns from a 200-day layoff, and the race-fit Tanasoq, third to Gunnerside over course and distance last Wednesday.

Tommy G arrives at the top of his game for leg five (7.15), with the hat-trick firmly within reach unless Red Bond puts a series of moderate efforts behind him off his much reduced mark.

Motawaazy, who made all in first-time cheekpieces at Catterick last Friday, will be hard to beat in leg six (7.45).
