The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Sunday

GOOD THING

J'Ai Froid (4.35 Carlisle)

Trainer Ben Case is in the form of his life at the moment with three winners from his last four runners (including a 66-1 Cheltenham Festival success) and his sole runner to make the near-250-mile trek from his Edgcote base to Carlisle is J'Ai Froid, who must have a huge chance of following up his recent success. He showed signs of promise in maiden hurdles earlier in the year before jumping mistakes cost him on handicap debut when well punted at Newcastle. He readily made amends when last seen at Exeter, staying on stoutly to peg back Firebird Flyer, and has been given a 5lb rise in the weights as a result. That looks lenient based on his potential.

IRISH ANGLE

Sonaiyla (2.00 Naas)

I don't like backing Aidan O'Brien-trained horses at this time of the year, especially maidens making their seasonal reappearance, and I made this contest between the Aga Khan's two runners. I certainly wouldn't put you off Dermot Weld's Baladiya, but she may need further and I was really taken by Sonaiyla's debut run in October. She missed the kick badly, was without cover for a good portion of the straight, but showed a nice turn of foot and attitude when staying on well to take fifth. Mick Halford and Ronan Whelan proved they are in flying form with a few winners at Dundalk on Friday and Sonaiyla looks a good bet at around 5-1.
