The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Monday

Paul Nicholls speaks at his annual owners' day

BANKER

Dolos(2.35 Carlisle)

Clear of his rivals on ratings, Dolos, a useful and consistent hurdler for trainer Paul Nicholls over the last two years, looks likely to record his second victory over fences. The five-year-old returned from his summer break with a cracking effort to finish second at Newton Abbot last month in what was a much better race than this. He's sure to come on for that run, the better ground is sure to suit and Nicholls has a 56 per cent strike-rate (5-9) at the track in the last five years.

GOOD THING

Shearian(12.05 Southwell)

This is a poor handicap but the return to the Fibresand for Declan Carroll's Shearian looks the catalyst to help him get back into the winner's enclosure. A five-time course-and-distance winner, Shearian has been plying his trade on the turf and quicker surface at Newcastle this year without any success, and has seen his rating fall. Now running off 65 on the all-weather, Shearian is 2lb below his last success and could be set for a prolific winter at Southwell.
