The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday

BIG-RACE BANKER

Waiting Patiently (3.55 Ascot)

Ruth Jefferson's extremely classy chaser proved that he is up there with the best between 2m4f and 3m last season when landing this race under a good ride from Brian Hughes. Things haven't gone his way since – season was curtailed by injury before unseating early in the King George – but he is a better horse with these rivals, his preparation has gone well, the track and trip are perfect and he looks a good bet at odds against.

GOOD THING

Mister Malarky (1.35 Ascot)

There are only five runners in this Grade 2 Reynoldstown Chase but it is a tight-knit field and the race could be set up for Colin Tizzard's in-form Mister Malarky. There looks to be plenty of pace on with Top Ville Ben, Yalltari and Now McGinty all keen to make the running, so if Robbie Power can sit in behind and get a nice lead into the race, Mister Malarky can come out on top. His jumping is a slight concern as he is not afraid to belt one, but he is an improving horse and impressed last time out.

EYECATCHER

Vision Des Flos (3.00 Wincanton)

This six-year-old is a cliff horse of mine but I'm going to give him one last go. Winless since hacking up at Exeter 12 months ago, Vision Des Flos has struggled in Grade 1 company on the whole but has finished in the places a number of times and shaped really nicely behind Champion Hurdle elect Buveur D'Air last time out. He travelled into the race like a revitalised horse – it was his first run since a wind op – and although he faces some talented rivals, this rates an easier opportunity.
