The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow at Royal Ascot

EYECATCHER

Raising Sand (5.00 Royal Ascot)

The majority of pace seems to be drawn middle to high and that can work in the favour of Raising Sand, who seems to have his conditions. Jamie Osborne's seven-year-old, who is drawn 32, has been gifted with a deluge of rain over the last couple of days, something connections have said has eluded them in the build-up to the majority of his intended starts. This mud-lover is also a course specialist at Ascot, recording form figures of 1143078164 at the track, which improves to 143164 when there is soft in the going description. He really caught the eye with a strong late effort to finish fourth in the Victoria Cup when last seen and has been freshened up with this race in mind.

DARK HORSE

Eminent Authority (3.05 Royal Ascot)

There doesn't look to be a stand out in the Queen's Vase, nor is there much strength in depth, but the one horse who could improve beyond his rivals is Eminent Authority, who represents the interesting duo of Joseph O'Brien and Jamie Spencer. A son of Frankel who has had just two starts, Eminent Authority looks to be crying out for a severe stamina test and despite finishing last of three on his most recent outing, he really caught the eye with a fine finishing effort in the final furlong. That Listed contest was over 1m4f and it was notable how he got outpaced as they swung for home before making up several lengths close home. The step up in trip will suit and he looks an outstanding bet at double-figure odds.

EACH-WAY PLAY

Agrotera (4.20 Royal Ascot)

An unexposed four-year-old filly, Agrotera is perfectly suited by the straight mile at Ascot and is likely to handle give in the ground better than most. Ed Walker's runner absolutely dotted up in the Sandringham this time last year on the back of a sole maiden win and although this represents a much harder task, she looks to have had this as her target for a while and can reward connections' patience. She disappointed on her final three starts last season but proved she was right back to her best with a fine reappearance victory on the all-weather, and hopefully she can come with a sweeping late run to go close.
