Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to back tonight based on trainer form, RPRs and, tonight's wild card, a step up in trip.

Trainer form

5.25 Chelmsford
Angle: Archie Watson's 29 per cent strike-rate over the last fortnight

Archie Watson has saddled seven winners from 24 runners over the last two weeks and runs debutante Frida Kahlo with Hollie Doyle in the saddle.

The Lambourn-based trainer has made an excellent start with his juveniles and the daughter of Society Rock bids to add to that record.

Ratings

6.30 Chelmsford
Angle: produced a career-best RPR last time out

Al Shaqab's son of Dark Angel looks a progressive sort and was last seen winning a mile handicap at Kempton in October.

The four-year-old, who was a 220,000gns purchase from Tattersalls Yearling Sales in October 2016, has won on both the turf and all-weather and will be ridden by Ryan Moore for the first time.

With only seven starts under his belt, there could be plenty more improvement to come from the colt.

Wild card

Tigray
8.00 Chelmsford
Angle: stepping up to 1m5½f for the first time

Tigray makes his first start for Mick Appleby but also takes a significant step up in trip after running exclusively over seven furlongs and a mile.

The gelding was second in a 7f Dundalk claimer last month and takes a marked step up to 1m5½f for the first time. Alistair Rawlinson takes the mount.
