Europa League third qualifying round: betting previews and free betting tips
Partizan Belgrade can complete job while Rangers should ease through
Europa League third qualifying round, from 5pm Thursday
A late Seydouba Soumah penalty has given Partizan Belgrade an edge over Yeni Malatyaspor going into the second leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie and they can pull off the double by winning in Turkey.
The tie was on a knife-edge at 2-1 until Soumah’s spot kick earned the Serbs a two-goal cushion which they well deserved.
Partizan have been revived under former Aston Villa frontman Savo Milosevic, whose six months in charge have been almost flawless.
They beat Red Star to win the Serbian Cup, have made an unbeaten start to this term, and have won all three Europa League ties.
Zoran Tosic, once of Manchester United and CSKA, runs the show and World Cup goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic is a rock between the sticks while Milosevic is also introducing a number of top-class teenagers into the side with Strahinja Pavlovic and Filip Stevanovic two of the best.
Yeni’s league season doesn’t start until Sunday and they have looked ordinary in this competition, squeezing past Olimpija Ljubljana in the last round only thanks to the Slovenian side playing more than an hour of the second leg with ten men.
Aberdeen looked miles off the pace in Croatia as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Rijeka.
The Dons smashed five past Chikhura in their previous home tie but punters should probably wait to see if the competition's top scorer Sam Cosgrove is declared fit before having an interest in Derek McInnes’s men.
Rangers, meanwhile, should have few worries putting the finishing touches to their tie against Midtjylland, having established a 4-2 advantage in the away leg.
Recommendation
Partizan Belgrade
