Colombia and Argentina set to serve up a sizzler
New-look sides boast bags of firepower

World Cup combatants Colombia and Argentina began their post-Russia existences with wins at the weekend and can lay on an entertaining spectacle at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Colombia, knocked out by England in round two in Russia, are now under the temporary tutelage of the country’s Under-20 chief Arturo Reyes, and the side he inherited looked good beating Venezuela 2-1 on Saturday.
As for fellow round-of-16 casualties Argentina, they are now being managed on a caretaker basis by Lionel Scaloni and whereas Colombia might be going in their new era cautiously, the Albiceleste’s interim chief has been seriously experimental with his first squad and was immediately rewarded with a 3-0 hammering of Guatemala.
That side was without the likes of Angel Di Maria, Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi and the retired Javier Mascherano. Indeed, keeper Sergio Romero is one of only five players in the squad with more than ten caps.
They still boast enough firepower in the form of strikers Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi and the Colombian defence was sorely exposed by Venezuela.
Colombia are also not short of quality goal-getters. Radamel Falcao bagged his 31st international goal in Miami and he’ll love going toe to toe with such an inexperienced defence as Argentina’s new-look rearguard will be.
Both teams to score looks to be the best bet at even money. Colombia have lost only one of their last nine while Argentina have failed to find the net in only one of their last 11.
