Goalmouth action could be scarce in Parken cup decider

Things should stay close between bitter rivals

Danish Cup final 4pm Thursday

Goals are often scarce whenever bitter rivals Copenhagen and Brondby meet and there is no reason to think that will be any different when they clash in the Danish Cup final on Thursday afternoon.

That the match is being played at Parken Stadium, Copenhagen's home, gives the champions a massive edge and one, you could argue, that might not be fully reflected in odds of 8-11. After all, they finished the season 19 points clear of second-placed Brondby and have not lost any of their last eight against their neighbours.

But games between these two are invariably tight, often ending all square, and a bet on under 1.5 goals looks a decent option.

For evidence to back that up, the last ten games between the sides have produced ten goals. Four meetings this season have produced four goals, the most recent a 1-0 win for Copenhagen at home earlier this month.

The cup holders also have selection issues to overcome. Head coach Stale Solbakken is without a number of key men, including Peter Ankersen, Tom Hogli and Rasmus Falk, and they have lost their last two matches going into the final.

Brondby have lost their last four, although coach Alexander Zorniger was drafting in plenty of reserves having given up on the title a few weeks back.

Copenhagen are the better side but don't boast amazing firepower and if ex-Leeds midfielder Rodolph Austin can anchor the diamond properly, Brondby are unlikely to get blown away.

Recommendation
Under 1.5 goals
1pt 9-4 general
