It seems that there isn’t a day of the new season that goes by without a mention of Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United’s Belgian marksman has netted three times in the opening two fixtures of the season and boasts a fine record against opponents Leicester.

Lukaku has scored five goals in seven appearances against the Foxes resulting in an excellent MPG figure of 126 – some 32 minutes lower than his career MPG which has already begun to drop in his fleeting time at Old Trafford.

Watford new boy Andre Gray is yet to get off the mark for the Hornets but looks to have an excellent chance of doing so this afternoon against Brighton.

Judging by Watford’s opening performances against Liverpool (drew 3-3) and Bournemouth (won 2-0), life is unlikely to be dull under new boss Marco Silva and Gray looks sure to get more opportunities in front of goal than he would have at former club Burnley.

Gray has a perfectly reasonable career MPG of 172 – just under one goal every other game – but his mark against Brighton is considerably lower at 105 after four goals in five games against the Seagulls.

The news of an injury to midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek increases the pressure on Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke to deliver the goods against Swansea.

The Belgian powerhouse was guilty of a glaring miss against Liverpool last week when the game was still goalless, but Eagles boss Frank de Boer will be hoping Benteke can improve on his fine record against the Swans.

Benteke has netted four times in eight dates with the Welsh outfit, scoring on average a goal every 131 minutes.

No side have suffered at the hands of Jermain Defoe more than Manchester City.

Defoe has found the back of the City net nine times to date in his career at a rate of one goal every 152 minutes – some 13 minutes lower than his overall career MPG figure.
