The John Moore-trained Tashidelek can end a frustrating run by landing the 1m1f handicap (2.15) at Happy Valley.
Moore, who is on a high after the triumph of potential sprinting star Aethero at the weekend, has saddled Tashidelek for two minor placings from three starts since taking delivery of the gelding from rival Jimmy Ting.
Earlier in his career the Street Cry five-year-old won three races for leading trainer Chris Waller, including a handicap over 1m3½f at Sydney track Warwick Farm.
He remains a maiden in Hong Kong but gives the impression he’ll be more suited to this trip than the 7f race he contested last time when he could manage only ninth.
Zac Purton is certain to make use of Tashidelek’s handy draw in gate four and can position himself just behind the leaders in the run to the first turn.
As ever, the draw is all-important at Happy Valley, which is a good reason to side with the Tony Millard-trained Arcada, who starts from gate one in the 1m½f handicap (3.50).
In a significant move, Millard has booked capable 10lb claimer Alfred KH Chan for the first time, which will be of great assistance for the gelding’s attempt at notching a third course-and-distance win.
Speaking of jockeys, none is more deserving of a first winner than dual South African champion Lyle Hewitson, who has endured a lean spell since arriving in Hong Kong two months ago.
The Paul O’Sullivan-trained Money Marshal drops into the bottom grade in the 1m1f handicap (12.15) and is now perfectly placed to open both his and the jockey’s account.
