EYECATCHER

Oenophile(5.10 Doncaster)

Our Kylie brings the best pieces of form into this race and I wouldn't be surprised if she was better than these but, at the prices, I'd be keen to take a chance on Andrew Balding's handicap debutante Oenophile. Partnered by Hayley Turner, this daughter of Mamool comes out of novice company without getting nearer than 15 lengths to the winner on each of her three starts but steps up markedly in trip and has a nice low rating to work with. She showed a bit last time out when staying on late to pick off a few stragglers and should be there or thereabouts.

GOOD THING

Acquirer(2.55 Salisbury)

There is no strength in depth in this contest and Richard Hughes has found a lovely opportunity for his unexposed three-year-old Acquirer, who can build on a promise second on his first start in handicap company. The son of Zoffany showed very little in novice events but with the application of first-time blinkers, he proved a completely different proposition when finishing behind a well-handicapped Sir Mark Prescott runner. He was five lengths clear of the others that day and provided the blinkers have the same effect, he should go one better.
