The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Saturday
EYECATCHER
Borderforce(2.00 Ayr)
This five-year-old gelding has only had three starts for trainer Karl Burke since moving from France and the first two of those (good to firm) can be discounted as he needs give in the ground. He finally got a bit of cut last time out at Ripon and he stayed on powerfully to the line against the inside rail and, given how deep it looked at Ayr yesterday, the conditions should suit him perfectly. He's only 2lb higher than that Ripon victory and there's a lot more to come.
DARK HORSE
G Force(3.50 Ayr)
Despite his price (around 25-1 at the time of writing) I really quite fancy Adrian Keatley's G Force in the Ayr Gold Cup. The former Group 1 winner has been laid out for this race all season by the shrewd Irish trainer and has performed well on the back of a break in the past. You can discount his last effort when finishing eighth behind Merchant Navy on good to firm ground, his mark of 101 (minus 3lb taken off by Clifford Lee) definitely looks workable and the ground and high draw – given he gets some cover – should play in his favour.
