The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Tuesday
BANKER
Kalagia(5.05 Yarmouth)
There are a couple of well-handicapped runners in this 0-75 handicap and it's worth noting Global Excel's performance ahead of future engagements, but Kalagia is the clear form pick and should make just about every yard to come out on top. The Mark Johnston-trained filly proved she handles both good and testing conditions in a four-race campaign last year. She made her reappearance after a 224-day break at the start of the month when narrowly outpointed by a Richard Hughes-trained runner, who has an entry on Wednesday and looks sure to have a good chance of going in again. The daughter of Kodiac has copious amounts of speed, stays six furlongs well and, given she's already had a run this season, she'll come here race-fit and ready to win.
DARK HORSE
Live Dangerously(5.55 Brighton)
John Bridger's eight-year-old is a course specialist at Brighton with three wins and a couple of places from 13 starts here in his race-heavy career. He doesn't have the most inspiring form figures coming into this race (05099), but he lost his way at the end of last season and always takes a couple of runs to come to hand after a break. Having had two runs on the all-weather earlier this month, he looks ready to strike and with the Handicapper leniently dropping him to a mark of 46 – 6lb lower than when winning here in June last year – it's worth giving him another look.
EACH-WAY PLAY
Nessun Dorma(4.55 Punchestown)
Willie Mullins will be wanting to strike at every opportunity possible this week in his bid to retain the trainers' title and he looks to have a good chance with Nessun Dorma. This unexposed five-year-old has only had four starts for Mullins since moving from Harry Kelly's yard after finishing down the field in a maiden on the Flat. Winner of his first two races for the Closutton handler, the ground hasn't been right for him the last twice and it's no surprise to see that Paul Townend has picked him ahead of five other Mullins runners with the ground the quickest it's been for ages. A mark of 132 is easily workable.
