The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow at Royal Ascot
BANKER
Constantinople (5.35 Royal Ascot)
I really fancied Aidan O'Brien's three-year-old colt for the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes on Friday – mainly because I'm convinced he's up to that class and was double the price than he will be for this engagement. However, the change of plan can only be seen as a positive move for punters given he is undoubtedly well treated off 105 and is talented enough to give weight away all round. He is a rapid improver, finishing an unlucky second on his return to action at Cork before running out a cosy and impressive winner when last seen. That came in Group 3 company over two furlongs shorter, and the step up in trip is sure to bring about further progression given the way he hit the line. Buckhurst, second that day, runs in the Hampton Court (3.05) earlier on the card.
EYECATCHER
A serious cliff horse of mine, but one I'm absolutely certain is well handicapped off his current mark and has a big race in him in the near future. Martyn Meade's horses have come back to some sort of form since he gave them all a month-long break and King Ademar, who has bumped into several smart horses on his last three outings, including when denied by subsequent winner Ouzo last time out, is ready to make the step up by landing the competitive Britannia. First-time cheekpieces can spark him into life, he has a good draw and although I'm slightly concerned about the ground, hopefully it will dry out over the course of the day.
GOOD THING
Sir Michael Stoute has gone close in this race the last three years but looks to have a huge chance of ending the unlucky run with Queen Power. The daughter of Shamardal, who is improving for every run, boasts strong form in what looks a weak edition of the Group 2 event and should relish the step up in distance. Second here on her reappearance when too keen early, Queen Power stayed on powerfully to land a Listed prize when last at Newbury, despite trading at big odds in the run after being scrubbed along earlier than some of her market rivals. She clearly has plenty of class about her and although she has 10lb to find with Fleeting on official ratings, I wouldn't put that beyond her with natural improvement.
