The Punt Daily: Mark Boylan's free horse racing tip at Thurles on Sunday

THURLES TIP

Ballyshannon Rose (2.40 Thurles)

We saw an excellent running of the Grade 3 Coolmore NH Sires Mogul Irish EBF Mares Novice Chase last year when Cheltenham Festival winners Colreevy and Mount Ida finished 1-2, but the same race doesn't look anywhere near as deep this time around. That is surely to the benefit of Ballyshannon Rose, who has been freshened up by trainer Paul Fahey since her unfortunate departure in the Grade 2 Liam & Valerie Brennan Florida Pearl Novice Chase in November. While she wouldn't have beaten the high-class Vanillier on that occasion and the race arguably fell apart in behind to a certain extent, the progressive mare was in the process of running a fine race when falling at the last. We know that Ballyshannon Rose enjoys Thurles, having won a mares' beginners' chase at the track in October and a handicap hurdle off just 87 last season. Having only had two runs over fences, she should still have more to come.
