Signposts: Take Numero Uno to live up to his name for Meade

Martyn Meade has a 50 per cent strike-rate with juvenile debutants at Newbury and has one such runner in Numero Uno (2.00). The Dubawi colt is pitched into an open maiden and will have the assistance of Jamie Spencer, who is three from nine for the trainer in the last five seasons.

Alistair Whillans, who has a 43 per cent strike-rate at Pontefract, is represented by Full Intention in the 9.10. The gelding has been disappointing this season but is well weighted now on some of last season’s form and an improved run could be on the cards.
