Plumpton Placepot picks: Richard Birch's advice for Sussex National day

There is a £100,000 guarantee for the Plumpton Placepot and some interesting races for punters to solve after high-class Stage Star’s appearance in the opening novice chase (12.30).

Master Chewy, placed behind bright prospects Attacca and Pikar at Cheltenham and Chepstow this season, can open his account in the following novice hurdle (1.00).

Prince Imperial, a 96-rated performer on the Flat who enjoys soft ground, shapes as the principal danger.

Twinjets, winner of two bumpers and a maiden hurdle, looks the answer to the second novice hurdle on the card (1.30).

Doireannshowed a likeable attitude in a narrow defeat at Fakenham last time and makes plenty of appeal in the 2m4f handicap hurdle (2.00).

Mr Jack, who ran an excellent third at Fontwell behind Ray’s The One on his penultimate start, could give the mare most to do.

Tip Top Mountain, a commanding all-the-way Fontwell scorer last time out, likes Plumpton and should give another good account in the 2m4f handicap chase (2.30).

Pemberley, runner-up in the race last year, is a strong fancy for the 3m4f handicap chase (3.00) under highly suitable conditions, with the low-weighted D’Jangocapable of outrunning his big odds.
