Newmarket July festival Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm for day one

There should be a selection of decent fillies in the opening maiden (1.20) at Newmarket given the £25,000 prize pot, a theory that is backed up by a number of Group 2 Lowther entries.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Invigilate is a sister to Breeders' Cup winner Expert Eye, who won on his juvenile debut for the yard, and has to be selected for Placepot purposes. Snooze N You Lose ticks the box for Karl Burke, who has won the last two runnings, and Red Joan, who was too green here on her debut, also goes in.
There are only six in the Bahrain Trophy (1.50) and Stowell looks banker material given the way he shaped in the Queen's Vase.
Ebro River and Eldrickjones, who were last seen in the Coventry, are my two in the July Stakes (2.25).
Despite the 20-runner field, I'm going to stick with Jadwal and Abduction in the next (3.00) as I fancy both to run big races.
I'm tempted to try to get Al Aasy beat on the ground in leg five (3.35). Sir Ron Priestley or Highest Ground should get us through anyway, and if Al Aasy does struggle that will certainly boost the return.
In the last (4.10), Maximal probably deserves to be favourite on his St James's Palace fourth. However, Baaeed, a half-brother to Hukum, looked special last time and can take the next step up the ladder in his stride.
