Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's four meetings
Best selections from Catterick, Bangor, Newcastle and Chelmsford
Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Bangor
3.30: Hart Of Steel
Eaton Collina has been dropped a very helpful 5lb since his encouraging third at Ffos Las last May and remains lightly raced but it can pay to give another chance to Hart Of Steel, who found a Haydock Class 2 race too hot last time but didn't run anywhere near as badly as his eventual 31l defeat might suggest and is now only 1lb higher than when winning at Carlisle in October.
Chris Wilson
Catterick
1.40: Melanamix
The mare Melanamix has run well to be placed over 2m3f/2m4f on her first two chase starts and there can be optimism this 3m point winner will be even better now upped in trip. No Cruise Yet has done well since joining Sam England and is second choice, ahead of recent C&D winner Tumbling Dice who is unexposed in the cheekpieces.
Ben Hutton
Chelmsford
5.30: She Got The Look
A case can be made for a few of these but the most persuasive one is for She Got The Look, who took a big step forward from her debut when third at Wolverhampton and looks to have more to offer as her stamina is drawn out. Opticality is feared most now she steps up to this trip with ex-French Cerulean and C&D second Typewritten two others to make the shortlist.
Peter Entwistle
Newcastle
4.50: Mawkeb
Several have possibilities but the most striking contender is Mawkeb, who stayed on strongly to go very close on his handicap/stable debut here 11 days ago and is on the same mark on this step back up in trip. Abnaa also finished well when runner-up over 7f here last time and he looks the main danger, though both Dreamseller and Broctune Red have each-way claims. The other one on the shortlist is the very lightly raced Naval Captain, who looks interesting upped to 1m on his handicap debut.
