Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's eight meetings
Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Ascot
2.30: Star Caliber
Three of the last four renewals of the Brown Jack have gone to a three-year-old, and this year's sole representative of the younger brigade, Star Caliber (nap), looks the one to be on after running his best race on his handicap debut at Chester. Arabescato is at the top of his form and may provide the sternest resistance, while Blow Your Horn and Raymond, third and fourth at Newcastle last time, can also feature.
Richard O'Brien
Chepstow
7.10: Helvetique
The Ralph Beckett-trained Helvetique (nap) was a big eyecatcher when a fast-finishing debut fourth at Chelmsford and she looks the one to beat with plenty of improvement on the cards with that initial run under her belt. Baileysgutfeeling also made an encouraging start when fourth at Yarmouth and is next on the list, although a market move for newcomer Amiga Meu would put a slightly different slant on things.
Peter Entwistle
Cork
7.45: Rock Chant
This will not take much winning, and Rock Chant (nap) appears to have the best form by virtue of a fourth placing over a longer trip at Limerick. The once-raced Premium Ticket possibly has more potential for improvement than any of the others. See The Love looks best of Jessica Harrington's pair. Colin Keane rides unknown quantity Dragon Gem.

Down Royal
6.05: Sh Boom
Sh Boom (nap) can certainly be forgiven her Fairyhouse no-show earlier this month as she almost lost Colin Keane coming out of the stalls. She was forced very wide into the straight too and didn't run as poorly as her finishing position suggests. She gets quite a confident vote to supplement her Gowran Park win over Acquiescent, who should also make her presence felt.
David Jennings
Newmarket
8.22: Bhubezi
This could revolve around the last-time-out winners Eminent Hipster and Bhubezi (nap). The former made all in a mile Windsor novice last time and is open to more progress back in a handicap, but preference is for Bhubezi, who stayed on strongly to score on his step up to 7f at Newbury last Friday and escapes a penalty for that comfortable success.
David Moon
Thirsk
4.00: Vanitas
This looks destined for one of the three-year-olds. Navajo Spring didn't enjoy the clearest of runs at Beverley last time and is certainly a contender on the strength of her convincing Redcar success in the spring, but Vanitas (nap) looks unlucky not to be 2-2 on turf having run into plenty of trouble at a vital stage at Catterick last time. She is taken to make amends.
David Bellingham
Uttoxeter
2.10: No No Maestro
The Composeur, Sizing Cusimano and Black Buble (preferred in that order) are all in very good form and respected but No No Maestro (nap) was arguably a shade fortunate to escape with an unchanged mark after his clear second over course and distance last month and, still lightly-raced, he gets the nod.
Chris Wilson
York
6.00: Dejame Paso
An interesting race in which the vote goes to Dejame Paso (nap), who resumed his progress back on fast ground when landing a Class 3 event at Sandown last month and a 4lb rise for that success looks fair. Second choice is the unexposed Just For Yuse, who forged clear in a maiden last time and is open to more improvement on his handicap debut. Others to consider are Semper Augustus, who looks interesting on his step up to this trip, and State Patrol, who could be dangerous if he gets more luck than he did at Chester on his recent return.
