Global Tango can dance his way to victory at Newcastle

Ayr racecourse: packed for the Scottish Grand National last April
Ayr: racing on WednesdayCredit: John Grossick (racingpost.com/photos)

Newmarket: Anthony Burke

Nick Vedder (6.45 Newcastle)

Never seems to run a bad race at this track and if getting the splits can add to his impressive tally here.

Others to note
Wolverhampton: 1.10 Dawn Delight 2.20 Military Law 2.50 Island Of Life 3.20 Inaam.
Newcastle: 3.35 Cloudlam 4.10 My Target 4.45 Kentucky Kingdom 5.45 Sweet Nature.

North: Richard Young

Aye Right (2.40 Ayr, nap)

Lightly-raced six-year-old who has proved suited by the step up to this sort of trip this season. Has two novice wins to his credit and far from disgraced in a Cheltenham handicap last time. This looks easier and with the softer ground no problem is fancied to get back to winning ways.

Others to follow
Ayr: 12.30 Manetti, 1.00 Strong Resemblance, 1.35 Dali Mail, 2.10 Mumgos Debut, 3.10 Glittering Love, 3.45 Holme Abbey.
Newcastle: 3.35 Ice Pyramid, 4.10 Dubai Acclaim, 4.45 Fiction Writer, 5.15 Coolagh Magic, 5.45 Ascot Week, 6.15 Harvest Day, 6.45 Royal Prospect, 7.15 Windforpower.
Wolverhampton: 12.40 Compton River, 1.45 Carpet Time, 2.20 This Girl, 2.50 Castle Hill Cassie, 3.20 Fast Track.

Lambourn: James Burn

Global Tango (6.45 Newcastle, nap)

Four-year-old has not run since a course-and-distance win in November 2017, but was fancied to perform well at Chepstow in May only to have a stalls problem and be withdrawn. Lightly raced, he could be better than we have seen.

Others to follow
Hereford: 1.55 Poucor, 3.00 Wishicould, 3.30 Loveherandleaveher.
Newcastle: 3.35 Be Thankful, 4.45 Shanghai Grace.
Wolverhampton: 1.10 Superseded, 2.20 High Acclaim, 2.50 Peak Princess, 3.20 Creek Harbour.

West Country: Andrew King

Cedar Valley (3.30 Hereford, nap)

Useful bumper performer who made a perfectly satisfactory start over hurdles behind a couple of useful sorts. The experience would not have been wasted and she is fancied to open her account.

Others to follow
Hereford: 1.20 Georgina Joy, 3.00 Rosemary Russet.

Racing Post Ratings: Steve Mason

Sebastapol (1.35 Ayr, nap)

Good winner of a decent bumper at the course on Scottish National day and shaped with plenty of promise when fourth to Thomas Darby in a good Cheltenham novice hurdle.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Space Bandit (4.10 Newcastle)

Made most of the running when comfortably breaking his duck in a Southwell maiden five weeks ago and this lightly raced four-year-old may have been let in lightly on his handicap bow.

Longshot: Simon Giles

Uno Mas (12.50 Hereford)

Tailed off after not enjoying the mud at Ffos Las last time and will relish the return to better ground here. Won convincingly two starts ago and still only 2lb higher than for that victory.
