Handicappers' nap

Shortbackandsides (6.55 Haydock)

Didn't show much on his first two starts this season but entitled to come on for those and is well treated on last year's form. Any cut in the ground should help.

Newmarket nap

Clarion (8.40 Goodwood)

Sir Michael Stoute's filly ran a great race when fourth on her debut at Newmarket last month and has since impressed on the Limekilns.
David Milnes

Eyecatcher

Philipine Cobra (8.20 Bath)

Found plenty to finish second behind a previous winner at Yarmouth last month, showing a good level of ability on debut for Phil McEntee. She's a half-sister to the very useful Zain Hana and can get off the mark.
Raceform

Our analysts from Raceform find eyecatchers at all meetings in the UK and Ireland, every day. Essential subscribers can read their expert view on every race

Irish angle

Old Glory (7.40 Curragh)

Ninth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas last month, the son of Frankel showed a good level of form last season and can take advantage of the drop in class in this Listed event.
Tony O'Hehir

Speed figures

Lola's Theme (6.20 Haydock)

Caught the eye on her seasonal return at Chester last month ago and this step up in trip could bring out the best in Tom Dascombe's filly.
Dave Edwards

Spotlight nap

Afandem (7.25 Haydock)

Back to form when winning at Carlisle last Friday. He was perhaps flattered by the bare form but the rain may ensure a similar surface here and he remains well handicapped on his past exploits.
Ben Hutton

Dark horse

Shortbackandsides (6.55 Haydock)

Goes well on a slower surface and could improve from last time out at Thirsk.
Rob Sutton
