Flying Tiger can sprout wings at the festival

Won, Leicester, February 15
The betting suggested this prolific point winner only needed to produce a clear round to open his account in hunter chases. The ten-year-old proved to be in a completely different league to his three rivals and was good value for more than the official ten-length margin. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to mix it with the best ex-chasers, but he is in the habit of winning and deserves a crack at the big prizes in this sphere. Like many offspring by Presenting he acts on decent ground.

Point Of Principle
Tim Vaughan
Won, Ascot, February 17
What caught the eye was how this novice hurdler knuckled down for pressure in testing conditions to hold off the strongly fancied Dame De Compagnie. Point Of Principle proved last season when beaten just five-and-a-half lengths in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree that he has a big engine and he seems to have a great attitude. He should progress, with connections likely to target valuable spring handicap hurdles.

Flying Tiger
Nick Williams

4th, Wincanton, February 17
Since winning the Fred Winter last season, Flying Tiger has faced a series of stiff tasks, largely running in Grade 1-2 company at around two miles, and he has not achieved a better placing than third. However, he has run well in defeat a number of times including here. Despite racing keenly returning from a short break, he kept on well enough and was just five lengths behind the improving winner Elgin at the finish. Flying Tiger is crying out for a return to a big field and he is definitely a horse I will be looking to back in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham next month.
