Ellison hope looks to be the way forward

Point The Way
2.25 Haydock
Buy at 9 on Index

Brian Ellison’s string are currently in fantastic form and with that in mind it could be worth siding with Point The Way in the Fixed Brush Hurdle.

The five-year-old won three out of four starts for Ellison in his first season hurdling last term, the highlight when giving weight and a beating to the smart-looking Sharpasaknife at Market Rasen in February. He disappointed when pulling up in the EBF Final at Sandown in March, but was in better form when third at Sedgefield on his reappearance.

Most of Point The Way’s success last term came in small fields, but he was also sixth of 18 when a 66-1 outsider at Cheltenham last November. He was also second of 12 in an Irish point-to-point back in May 2014, so facing 14 rivals today should not be a problem.

The recent rain which has fallen should be in his favour with two of his victories last season coming on heavy ground and he is the right age with five of the last six renewals having been won by those aged five.

In short he has plenty going for him and a good run can secure punters a profit.
