British raiders make most appeal in Sapphire Stakes

Friday action: classy action in Ireland on Friday
Curragh: racing on SundayCredit: Caroline Norris

With a pair of sevens to her name, Blissful is not the most obvious choice in the opening fillies' maiden, but the Ballydoyle-trained filly picked up valuable experience in a Group 2 outing on her second start. This is a race in which punters will need to pay close attention to the market, but Na Blianta Beo, a daughter of the top-class Finsceal Beo, and Sable Camp, are the picks of the newcomers on paper.

Jessica Harrington has a powerful team of juveniles and can take the first nursery of the season with impressive Navan winner Cool Vixen, potentially a Group horse running in a handicap.

British stables hold a strong hand in the Group 2 sprint, and the home team may not get a look-in. Archie Watson's King's Stand third Soldier's Call and John Quinn's El Astronaute, bidding for a hat-trick on Irish soil, make most appeal.

The ground was soft when Move Swiftly won the Duke of Cambridge Stakes on her seasonal debut, but a quicker surface is unlikely to prevent the William Haggas-trained filly from taking the Kilboy Estate Stakes.

Face Off, Anythingyouwantobe and Kodiqueen are put forward in a lottery-like sprint handicap, while the 1m4f maiden is narrowed to two main contenders, Halimi, who ran creditably in the Ulster Derby Handicap, and the less-exposed Istoria.
