Awtaad stud fee cut for 2022 as Derrinstown releases roster
Tamayuz and King Of Change will lend support next year as Shadwell's Irish arm
Derrrinstown Stud has trimmed the fees for their three stallions for 2022.
Eight-year-old Awtaad's leading lights in 2021 have been Listed winner Primo Bacio and Create Belief, who has won his last three starts for the Johnny Murtagh yard, most recently the Group 3 Desmond Stakes.
Bellosa was another Listed winner, but the three-year-old filly did not fare too well in the Jersey Stakes, for which she was quite well fancied.
That trio have been the standout performers on the scene in 2021 for the sire in Britain and Ireland, along with Capannelle Listed winner Calithea.
The sire's yearlings in 2021 sold for up to €80,000.
Awtaad stood for €10,000 this year at Shadwell's Irish stud but for 2022 his fee has been halved to €5,000.
The son of Cape Cross has yet to sire a son or daughter of the same calibre he himself was on the track, when the Irish 2,000 Guineas was on his excellent CV, but there is plenty of time yet and that considerable cut in fee could well have mare owners beating a path to Derrinstown's door.
He stood for €15,000 in 2020 and has gone from the most expensive sire at the County Kildare operation to the cheapest, with Tamayuz at €7,000 now at the top of the roster.
His fee for this year was €8,000, so he is also even better value for 2022.
The 16-year-old son of Nayef has four Group 1 winners to his name, in Blond Me, G Force, Mustashry and Precieuse, while this year his daughter Zeyaadah has flown the flag honourably, winning the Group 3 Hoppings Fillies' Stakes and finishing a good second behind Lady Bowthorpe in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes.
His 2021 yearlings made up to €160,000.
Also on the 2022 team is King Of Change, the five-year-old son of Farhh who won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot in 2019.
He began his career this year at €7,000 and has undergone a short back and sides to €6,000 for 2022.
His first crop will of course be foals next year.
