Tattersalls Cheltenham extend their support of races for young point-to-pointers
English season kicks off at Bishops Court, East Devon on Saturday, October 24
Tattersalls Cheltenham announced on Monday that they are to sponsor all of the four- and five-year-old point-to-point maidens to be run this autumn.
This will form part of their overall official national sponsorship of four- and five-year-old races which totals 15 throughout the season.
The demand for high-class young National Hunt prospects that have shown their ability in English point-to-points has seen an increase of trainers and owners in the UK specialising in this market.
The last few years have witnessed record-breaking prices at Cheltenham for UK point-to-pointers of up to £220,000. Top-class graduates from the English point-to-point field in recent years include Santini, who finished runner-up in this year's Gold Cup for trainer Nicky Henderson and owner-breeder Richard Kelvin Hughes.
The Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale, now scheduled for Thursday, December 3 at the world renowned Park Paddocks complex in Newmarket, will a solid platform for handlers to offer young talent in a vibrant marketplace.
The English point-to-point season kicks off at Bishops Court, East Devon on Saturday, October 24.
