Swincombe flock continue to prosper with Fontwell success

Ten years after a first milestone victory by Swincombe Flame, her daughter Swincombe Fleat looks set to carry the torch onwards.
The five-time winner is one of two broodmares kept by Devon farmers Malcolm and Kathy Yeo and her second foal got her career under way in promising fashion last week by carrying the same blue-seamed colours of the Yeo Racing Partnership to success in a bumper at Fontwell.
Swincombe Fleat is a third generation representing human and equine families. Kathy Yeo’s brother, the late Robert Alner, trained her granddam Lady Felix to decent effect over hurdles. Had Alner and his wife Sally not decided to retire from the ranks in 2010, the Gold Cup-winning trainer's life having been changed profoundly by a car accident, he would have also prepared Swincombe Flame.
