Shuttler Sir Prancealot on the board from first southern hemisphere-bred crop

Cornerstone Stud shuttler Sir Prancealot got off the mark with his first southern hemisphere-bred crop on Saturday as Belle Of Yorkes scored a rousing success on her second career start at Murray Bridge in South Australia, flying over the top of the field to defeat Jaazeb by a neck.

The Jon O’Connor-trained juvenile filly, the penultimate foal out of Redoute's Choice's city-winning daughter Charzoo, was building on a debut third less than two weeks ago behind Bleriot, winning the two-year-old plate over six furlongs in what was a well strung-out field.

Sir Prancealot, by Tamayuz out of Catrail's daughter Mona Em, stands at Rancho San Miguel, California, where his fee this year was $15,000. He stood his first season in the US in 2020, when he was bred to 105 mares.

Among the 11-year-old's best progeny to date is Grade 1 American Oaks winner Lady Prancealot.

Sir Prancealot will be a familiar name to British and Irish fans as the winner if the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster in 2012. He raced for Richard Hannon snr and also win the Listed National Stakes at Sandown in a productive two-year-old campaign.

He entered stud in Ireland in 2013, before going to Australia in 2017. and then on to the US last year. He was the leading first-season sire in Britain in 2016, and is the sire of earners of more than $10 million, with ten stakes winners so far and 14 stakes-placed offspring.

Sir Prancealot will again shuttle to Cornerstone in 2021, standing for a fee of A$9,900 (£4,900/€5,700).
