Sensational sprint filly Lady Aurelia to go on sale at Fasig-Tipton
Daughter of Scat Daddy will be in hot demand
Outstanding sprinter Lady Aurelia could cause records to be rewritten when she is offered at this year’s Fasig-Tipton November Sale in Kentucky.
Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency will consign the four-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy on behalf of Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet and co-owner Peter Leidel.
“Lady Aurelia is the embodiment of Stonestreet’s breeding programme,” said Banke. “A brilliant filly out of a champion, she took on all-comers across the globe at the pinnacle of our sport.
"The first American-trained Cartier winner when she was named two-year-old filly of the year, her talent and raw speed were breathtaking.”
Trained throughout her career by Wesley Ward, Lady Aurelia showed brilliance from the start. She scored by seven-and-a-half lengths on her debut at Keeneland in the April of her two-year-old season in track record time.
Making the trip to Royal Ascot for her second start, Lady Aurelia made jaws drop by demolishing the field to win the Queen Mary Stakes by seven lengths.
She followed that with a commanding all-the-way success in the Prix Morny at Deauville. Her two-year-old campaign resulted in a Cartier award as Europe’s champion two-year-old filly.
Returning in the spring of her three-year-old year, Lady Aurelia claimed the Giant’s Causeway Stakes at Keeneland, and then defeated colts and geldings in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot before being beaten a nose by Marsha - who commanded a European record 6,000,000gns when sold as a broodmare prospect at Tattersalls last year - in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.
On the board in eight of her ten career starts, Lady Aurelia is a stakes winner in three countries.
"Lady Aurelia is the embodiment of equine royalty,” said consignor John Sikura of Hill ‘n’ Dale. “Her performances were historic and her wins emphatic at the highest levels of racing. She is a grand physical specimen and Scat Daddy is arguably the most successful international sire we have seen in more than a decade.
"She is the rarest of champions and we are honoured to represent her this November.”
Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning added: “Lady Aurelia is a truly special offering based upon her accomplishments around the world, highlighted by two wins at Royal Ascot. She has the potential to become a broodmare of historic proportions.”
The Fasig-Tipton November Sale takes place on November 4.
