Ocean Quest gives Sioux Nation the perfect start to his stud career
First runner is a winner for Coolmore's Group 1 winner by Scat Daddy
Sioux Nation got his stud career off to a flying start with the victory of Ocean Quest in the first race of the 2022 Irish Flat season at the Curragh.
Jessica Harrington's filly demonstrated no little talent and admirable determination to nab victory in the Alkumait Standing at Castlefield Stud With A 100,000 Euro Bonus Irish EBF Maiden.
After dwelling a little in the stalls at the start, she had to overcome a lack of running room, a bump with a rival and a stumble on her way to a half-length victory over Forceful Speed with Midnight Toker in second.

Bred by Dr T K Chah, Ocean Quest runs in the colours of J Kirkland and she is the second runner and winner out of Zain Gold, a winning Aqlaam half-sister to Group 2 Mehl-Muehlens Rennen winner Poetic Dream and French Group 3 winner Who Knows out of the Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial winner Zain Al Boldan.
Sioux Nation was ante-post favourite to be this year's leading first season sire with 161 registered two-year-olds and the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner by Scat Daddy has made the perfect start to his stud career.
Coolmore's classy sprinter, who was a precocious juvenile himself winning Royal Ascot's Norfolk Stakes, is the first of this year's new crop of stallions to sire a winner.
