First Prophet gets Ballylinch Stud's freshman sire New Bay off the mark
Newbury novice stakes winner was a €50,000 yearling
Ballylinch Stud resident New Bay became the latest freshman sire to get off the mark when son First Prophet scooted clear of his six rivals in the It's Not Rocket Science With MansionBet EBF Novice Stakes at Newbury on Friday.
Bred by Ennistown Stud, First Prophet was picked up by trainer Charlie Fellows and Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock for €50,000 when the youngster was offered by Manister House Stud during the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale.
He is the second foal out of Lus Na Greine, an unraced daughter of Pour Moi whose siblings include the Group 3 Park Express Stakes scorer Rehn's Nest and Godolphin's dual winner Global Hero.
First Prophet is one of 77 foals in New Bay's first crop, which was conceived at a fee of €20,000. His first yearlings fetched up to 300,00gns, with Amanda Skiffington signing for the colt out of Glorification at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
A total of 46 New Bay yearlings changed hands at last year's European sales, with that group averaging £41,150.
Bred and raced by Juddmonte Farms, New Bay won five races while under the care of Andre Fabre, most notably the 2015 Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club.
The son of Dubawi is out of Cinnamon Bay, a Listed-winning daughter of Zamindar who in turn is out of a half-sister to Irish Oaks winner Wemyss Bight.
