The first Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale to be held at the Tattersalls Ireland sales complex in County Meath will get under way at 10am on Friday, after 202 two-year-olds were put through their paces across the road at Fairyhouse racecourse 24 hours earlier.

Traditionally held at Gowran Park racecourse and at the Goresbridge sales complex in County Kilkenny, the auction prides itself on being Europe's largest breeze-up sale, and is the only auction of its type held in Ireland.

The sale has thrown up some notable graduates on the track including the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf runner-up East, who was third to Castle Lady in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches this month, Matron Stakes scorer Fiesolana and Falmouth Stakes heroine Music Show.

Tattersalls Ireland chief executive Matt Mitchell said: "This year is about establishing the sale's new identity and location in people's minds and providing the best service possible in our new surroundings.

"We'll then be seeking to build on this year's foundation and have ambitious targets with regard to the growth of the sale. I think the new Tattersalls Ireland-Goresbridge partnership is a brilliant opportunity to enhance the quality of the horse coming through the sale based on the facilities on offer."
