Aizavoski chalks up his first winner under rules

The concluding bumper at Punchestown on Wednesday took on an extra significance with the easy debut scorer Chapmanshype becoming the first winner under rules for his Arctic Tack Stud-based sire Aizavoski.

The seeming possibility of a four-way finish quickly evaporated when the four-year-old gelding scorched clear of his rivals in the final furlong under Richie Deegan for trainer Liz Doyle.

Bred by Robert Tector and raced by Neil Tector, Chapmanshype was offered for sale three times by his breeder through Coolbawn Stud, but failed to attract a buyer on each occasion.

Chapmanshype is out of Call Her Something, a daughter of former Arctic Tack stallion Heron Island.

She also has a three-year-old Ask filly, yearling colt by Ocovango and a Hillstar colt foal. She was covered by Jet Away earlier this year.

Aizavoski, a 12-year-old son of Monsun, was bred and raced by the Wildenstein family in France, where he was a prolific Listed winner from 1m1½f to 1m4f.

Retired to Eoin Banville's Arctic Tack Stud in 2013, his oldest crop are now four-year-olds, and among them is Envious Editor, an impressive winner of his Belharbour maiden in February subsequently purchased by Kate Harrington for £195,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham sales.

Heron Island mares have clicked well with other sons of Monsun in the past, with The Game Changer, Hardline and Mad Jack Mytton all by Arcadio.

Aizavoski, who stands at a private fee, shares his sire with a number of influential jumps sires including Getaway, Network and Shirocco.
