Record label supremo Chris Wright still profiting from Crime Of Passion signing

Forty years after the birth of Cherry Hinton Stakes winner and Queen Mary Stakes runner-up Crime Of Passion, Chris Wright is still reaping the rewards from the mare at his Stratford Place Stud in Gloucestershire.

The daughter of Dragonara Palace was the first yearling bought by Wright, who signed acts such as Blondie and Spandau Ballet to his Chrysalis Records label, and she went on to become an effective foundation mare for him.

Crime Of Passion produced five winners including the Listed-placed Master Of Passion, but her influence has been felt most strongly through Licence To Thrill, her 1997 daughter by Wolfhound. A dual winner for David Arbuthnot, she is the dam of nine winners, seven of them in possession of black type.
