'The sky's the limit' - discover another part of the growing Skelton empire
Kitty Trice visits Alne Park Stud to speak to stud director Grace Skelton
It is nearing two years since the then little-known Dink arrived at Alne Park Stud. In that time the stallion berths at Grace Skelton's flourishing operation have trebled, and with that has come a growing sense of anticipation and excitement for the future.
Striding out into a former racing yard that is rapidly expanding to accommodate youngstock and broodmares, as well as the trio of stallions, Skelton is a ball of enthusiasm as she steps around the draining works to show the handful of foals content in their boxes, some awaiting their destiny in the sales ring.
It is evident that Dink's new chapter in Britain, following those written in France and his native Spain, is beginning to hit full stride. In one of the foal boxes is a Walk In The Park half-brother to Dink's star performer Nube Negra, the Grade 2 winner and Champion Chase runner-up trained by Grace's husband Dan, while three foals by Dink himself pop their heads around the stable doors for a closer look at this new visitor.
