Tom Peacock speaks to Ritchie and Hazel Fiddes about an exciting new development
Ritchie Fiddes has a hammer and nails in hand as he waves from down his drive. Mares and foals graze contentedly in fields on both sides of the road in the Yorkshireman’s idyllic little fiefdom just outside his home town of Ripon.
Days of pottering, enjoying the fruits of his labour and raising a few homebreds through the ebbs and flows of the seasons here seems an appealing way to spend life.
Only, Fiddes is just about to announce why he, wife Hazel, two school-aged children, a labrador and a spaniel are about to leave to be part of a new training venture in the goldfish bowl of Lambourn.
