Neil Walsh, formerly of Tattersalls Ireland, has joined the Goffs bloodstock team in a move that will see him focus on vendor liaison and inspections for all National Hunt and Flat sales.

A familiar face to Irish breeders, Walsh spent 12 years as the head of bloodstock and director of bloodstock at Tattersalls Ireland, prior to stepping down in February.

He also held a number of committee positions during his time at Tattersalls Ireland, including with the International Cataloguing Standards Committee, the ITBA National Hunt Committee and the Drugs Task Force.

Commenting on the appointment, Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "Neil is an excellent addition to the dynamic bloodstock and inspection teams at Goffs, and I have no doubt he's a perfect fit, combining experience and knowledge with a hands-on approach that is the hallmark of the modern day Goffs.

"His experience, horsemanship and passion for racing perfectly complements the current team and aligns very well with our ambitious business development plans. Neil has proven success in sourcing top quality sales horses under both codes and a strong background in customer relations which will only enhance the unrivalled Goffs service to our valued vendors."

Walsh previously spent six years in the racing department of Horse Racing Ireland. He is also well known on the Irish point-to-point scene, having worked as a race-day official and inspector of courses for the Turf Club for over 12 years.

An enthusiastic breeder, he has his own band of broodmares on the family farm in County Kilkenny and combines breeding with pinhooking Flat and National Hunt foals.

Walsh said: "I'm delighted to join Goffs and look forward to helping build on the company's impressive progress with both their Flat and National Hunt sales.

"The company's reputation for integrity and customer care perfectly chimes with my core values, whilst the spectacular success and huge growth in market share of the Land Rover Sale over the past decade is a perfect example of the drive and ambition of the team at Goffs.

"It's with great enthusiasm that I take on this new role and look forward to contributing to the superb reputation of Goffs across their wide portfolio of market leading sales."
